Reimagining The Masonic: What’s on the go?

notice to neighbours: work happening at the masonic

Hello Masonic neighbours,

We want to inform you about upcoming exploratory work around The Masonic at 6 Cathedral Street. The aim is to have this work begin Wednesday, July 22.

What work is being done?
The project involves excavating two small test pits so engineers can examine the ground conditions and building foundation. The work will take place on the northwest and southeast sides of the building.

To access the work areas, a mini excavator will enter the site via Willicott’s Lane. Temporary removals of a small section of fencing, a steel railing, part of the fire escape, and a small tree will be required to safely complete the work. Once the investigation is finished, the test pits will be backfilled and levelled, the fencing and railing will be reinstalled, and the tree will be replanted. No excavated material will be removed from the site.

Schedule
The work is expected to take approximately one week to complete.

What to expect
During this time, you may notice:

  • Construction equipment and workers on site.
  • Increased noise during daytime working hours.
  • Temporary activity along Willicott’s Lane and around the perimeter of the building.
  • Short-term removal of small sections of fencing and railing while the work is underway.

Every effort will be made to minimize disruption and protect the surrounding property throughout the project.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important investigative work is completed. Thank you for your cooperation.
